Select a suitable Dutch university or applied sciences institution, apply with your academic documents and language test scores, and secure an offer letter.

Step 3

Netherlands study counselling
Yes. The Dutch are among the most fluent English speakers in Europe, and many programmes are taught in English. While learning basic Dutch helps in daily life and part-time jobs, you can comfortably live and study using English alone initially.
Compared to many Western European countries, tuition fees in the Netherlands are relatively moderate, especially for the quality of education offered. Living costs vary by city, but students use discounts, shared housing and cycling to keep expenses under control.
You must first secure admission in a recognised Dutch institution, then apply for an MVV (provisional residence permit) and, after arriving, a residence permit. You need valid passport, enrolment proof, financial evidence, health insurance and biometrics. We guide you through every step.
Depending on your nationality and permit, you may be allowed to work part-time during studies and full-time during certain breaks. There are also internship and research assistant opportunities linked to your programme. We explain the latest rules during counselling.
The Netherlands has a strong economy with many multinational companies and a growing start-up ecosystem. Graduates often benefit from post-study work options (orientation year) to search for jobs and transition into full-time roles in sectors like tech, finance and logistics.
It is best to start 8–12 months before your intended intake. This gives enough time for tests (IELTS/TOEFL), university deadlines, MVV processing and accommodation planning. Starting early also increases your chances for scholarships and preferred courses.
